People flock from all over the world to ride the train known as Nariz del Diablo. We do a day trip on the train visiting Sibambe.

“The biggest complication faced by the construction of the Trans-Andean railroad was the Devil’s Nose, a mountain with almost perpendicular walls. To overcome this obstacle a zigzag railroad was built that climbs more than 500 meters in less than 12 km with steep ascents and descents. It today remains an impressive piece of engineering.

While recovering from the mind-blowing descent you will enjoy the views of the narrow gorge of river Chanchán and will have the chance to learn a bit about the traditions and worldview of the Puruhuas in Sibambe.”

Clothing – Be sure to bring appropriate clothing for the weather and time of year. Days are lovely (not too warm) and it can get chilly at night. Layers are always best! For shoes bring comfortable walking/hiking shoes/fitness trainers. A hat, visor, or bandana is advisable. Comfortable clothing for walking, and fitness clothing for yoga and hiking is recommended.

Other – all your necessities/toiletries, sunscreen, alarm clock, plug adapters, mini flashlight, day pack, water bottle and anything else you need!

Travel Insurance is Mandatory!

This not only protects you and your safety abroad, it protects you in case of any last minute changes, unexpected events, or emergencies. You may not hold Christy, tour guides, or anyone at the guesthouse liable for injury and you waive right to any claims or liabilities you may incur during the retreat. Please make sure to include “cancel for any reason” coverage to your insurance policy. Get a quote here for travel insurance. Here’s another company.

You must have a valid passport that doesn’t expire for at least 6 months prior to the trip. Please check with your home country to make sure you may enter each country with a travel visa. This website is very helpful.

The local currency is:
US Dollars

Use this calculator to find your country’s conversion rate. Be sure to have extra money for food/drinks gifts, clothing, and anything else you may want to buy. The best thing is to use an ATM at the airport or in the city of Cusco rather than bringing money to change. You’ll get a better exchange rate. Just be sure to call you bank (and credit cards) before the trip to give them a travel notice.
